A Very Pretty Danger

There is a unique kind of magic in seeing the world through Unicorn’s eyes. To our favorite little fae-air elemental, a glowing light is never just a light. It is an invitation to marvel, a beautiful beacon, and—if he’s incredibly lucky—maybe even a giant piece of cosmic candy. But as Troll is quickly learning on their journey, Unicorn’s sense of wonder sometimes lacks a very important safety switch.

In this classic panel from the beginning of Episode 1: The Strange Metal Cave, our exiled duo has wandered deep inside a massive metal cave embedded in a vine-covered hill. While Troll’s sharp mind is busy deducing that this structure is actually a fallen “space ship” from another world, Unicorn has already trotted ahead to investigate the shiny parts. He finds himself standing before a magnificent, levitating blue sphere. It floats peacefully, casting a brilliant, otherworldly light across the vast chamber. Naturally, Unicorn is absolutely transfixed, squealing “Ooohh! Pretty!” with pure, unshielded delight.

But while Unicorn is busy admiring the view, the ship’s translation monitors finally crack the ancient alien language, flashing a stark warning on the screen: DANGER REACTOR CORE. The dramatic irony is delicious, but the stakes are incredibly high. Our travelers have stumbled directly into the heart of a highly volatile Eldaryn engine room, and Unicorn is just a hop, skip, and a horn-glow away from touching something he definitely shouldn’t.

Before they found this ship, Troll—real name Thagius—expected their celestial exile on prehistoric Earth to be a simple, grumbling march to the Mysterious Mountain. Instead, he has to keep a constant eye on Sparkles, whose endless curiosity and pronounced lisp make him the most lovable, yet highly dangerous, traveling companion in the prehistoric world. To Unicorn, the universe is a playground of treasures; to Troll, it’s a minefield of things Unicorn is about to break.

Will Troll manage to pull his glittery friend back in time, or is Unicorn about to give this glowing alien core a tragic nose-boop? One thing is for sure: exploring a crashed spaceship is never as simple as it looks!
