Unfortunately for Troll, that moment is fraught with extreme, high-stakes danger.

To Troll, the “strange metal cave” they stumbled into is a cause for serious concern. It is a structure clearly not of their world, full of hums, flashing interfaces, and mysterious technology. Troll’s first instinct is to analyze, caution, and proceed with a healthy dose of skepticism. But Unicorn operates on a completely different frequency. Where Troll sees an advanced, potentially unstable alien vessel, Unicorn sees a giant, glowing playground waiting to be explored.

If you look closely at Unicorn’s expression, you can see the absolute essence of his character. His eyes are wide with wonder, his hooves are kicked up in a playful gallop, and his massive smile shows off a row of perfectly happy teeth. He is not thinking about radiation, structural integrity, or the fact that they are currently trespassing inside a fallen spacecraft. He is thinking about how pretty the glowing light at the top of the ramp looks. To a fae elemental who loves rainbows and candy, a glowing blue reactor core is basically an invitation to play.

This stark contrast is the beating heart of their partnership. Troll is the practical, exasperated anchor who has to keep their feet on the ground, while Unicorn is the endless balloon of optimism, floating toward whatever shiny object catches his eye. On prehistoric Earth, that curiosity is bound to lead them into some tight spots—and as we’re about to see, charging headfirst toward a highly sensitive alien power source is one of the quickest ways to trigger a countdown to disaster.
