When Hooves and Metal Don’t Mix

We’ve all had those moments where our feet—or in this case, our hooves—betray us. Our heroes, Troll and Unicorn, have just stepped out of the prehistoric jungle of Tera and into the cold, futuristic interior of a crashed spaceship. For Troll, this “strange metal cave” is a source of intense scientific curiosity. For Unicorn, it’s just another playground to explore with boundless, hyperactive enthusiasm. Unfortunately, alien vessels aren’t exactly designed with equine traction in mind.

This fantastic split-panel highlights the classic slapstick nature of a sudden slip-and-fall. The artist uses a brilliant two-part layout to slow down the action, making the mishap feel both hilarious and inevitable. On the left, we get a close-up of the exact moment of disaster. Unicorn’s bright blue hoof completely loses its grip on the slick, angled metal ramp. The bold, hand-drawn “SLIP!” sound effect practically vibrates off the page, perfectly conveying that sudden, heart-stopping loss of balance.

Then, the action explodes into the right panel. Gravity takes full control, and Unicorn finds himself tumbling backward through the air in a state of utter, upside-down panic. His eyes are wide with dinner-plate levels of shock, his blue mane is flying wild, and a massive, orange-and-red “WHOOAH!” echoes through the metallic chamber. It’s a wonderful moment of pure cartoon physics and expressive character design that brings a sudden burst of kinetic energy to the story.

But while this fall looks like harmless, Saturday-morning cartoon comedy, the stakes in the Parmony are incredibly high. Just beneath Unicorn’s tumbling form lies a glowing, highly sensitive reactor core. A single stray, panicking kick from a flailing unicorn could easily disrupt the delicate alien machinery. What started as a clumsy stumble is about to trigger a chain reaction that neither Troll nor Unicorn is prepared for. Will they survive the fallout of this slippery mishap?
