New Troll & Unicorn Music: Safe, Sound and Out of Time
A new orchestral theme has arrived for Troll & Unicorn. “Safe, Sound and Out of Time” celebrates the last-second escape at the end of Episode 1—while hinting that getting to safety is not the same as getting home!
Safe, Sound and Out of Time is an energetic orchestral finale written for the closing moments of Troll & Unicorn: Episode 1 — The Strange Metal Cave.

A Happy Ending—Almost
Episode 1 begins with Troll and Sparkles heading toward the mysterious mountain. Their journey takes an unexpected turn when the “strange metal cave” they discover turns out to be a crashed spaceship.
Naturally, Sparkles soon manages to turn an exciting discovery into a full-scale emergency.
After an unfortunate encounter with the ship’s reactor core, Troll and Sparkles find themselves racing against Cerebra’s remarkably calm countdown to destruction. Along the way, they discover two children—Susie and Timmy—aboard the ship with no obvious way home.
With only seconds remaining, all four crowd onto a transporter platform. The countdown continues, the transporter activates, and everything disappears into white light.
Then comes the scene behind this music.
Safe, Sound…and Somewhere Else
Troll, Sparkles, Timmy and Susie have been beamed to safety. The danger is behind them, the children introduce themselves, and everyone finally has a moment to breathe.
It is a warm and happy ending. Troll’s enormous feet make surprisingly good seats, Timmy and Susie appear to have found two very unusual new friends, and the beginnings of the group’s future adventures are taking shape.
There is only one small problem.
Sparkles asks the question that nobody else has yet considered: how are they supposed to get back to their own time?
That question gives Safe, Sound and Out of Time its title. They reached the transporter before time ran out—but now they may be stranded outside their own time entirely.
Creating the Sound of the Episode 1 Finale
I wanted this piece to feel like the closing music of a grand animated adventure: warm, playful and triumphant, but still moving forward.
The arrangement uses sweeping strings, lively woodwinds, French horns, harp, timpani and full orchestral flourishes. Rapid arpeggios and driving rhythms carry some of the nervous energy of the escape, while the broader melody celebrates the relief of arriving safely together.
There is also a hint that the story is not finished. The music grows into a bright full-orchestra finale and then ends with one decisive stop—much like an episode closing just as a new question changes everything.
Although the track was created in Suno, the musical direction was specifically designed to evoke a natural cinematic symphony orchestra, with expressive acoustic performance, human timing and no electronic or chiptune elements.
This is only one part of the expanding musical world of Troll & Unicorn. Character themes, story music and more sounds from the project are also beginning to take shape—and there is considerably more waiting beyond the mysterious mountain.
