Let’s talk about drawing page 8. (If you want to recap, check out pages 1 to 7 )
The next scene is one where we see unicorn playfully jumping around in this room, causing havoc!
This is the part from the script that we are drawing:
“Unicorn finds himself in a big room that looks like a gymnasium, filled with robotic dinosaurs and giant bananas with robot legs wandering about.
Unicorn, being his playful self, decides to play with the dinosaurs and bananas, running about and kicking them with his hooves, giggling.
The main door control gets smashed by unicorn’s hoof, causing it to close. Unicorn is trapped, but he seems oblivious.
The giant bananas waddle around, and the dinosaurs try to attack, but Unicorn is invulnerable to the bites and swipes of the dinosaur tails because he is a magical unicorn. ”
We decided to draw this one by splitting up the action of Unicorn getting into trouble again into two pages. We will have the next page as Troll saving Unicorn… again.
In order to make the scene more more dynamic, like a bit of a ‘crescendo’, this is what we are doing:
Panel 1 – Unicorn jumping on top of some dinosaurs and bananas, pissing everybody off!
Panel 2 – On crunching the door panel
Panel 3 – Jumping out of frame toward the right while we see the door slamming shut.
Panel 4 – Dino is angry.
Panel 5 – Chaos. Dinosaurs and bananas are all trying to get at Unicorn, and getting in each other’s way. Unicorn is oblivious.
